The name Octagon symbolizes strength, balance, and completeness, a fitting representation of the guaranteed financial security we promise to deliver.

When Octagon Africa was founded in 2007, the East African financial services industry was at a critical inflection point. Despite steady economic growth across the region, the pensions, insurance, and investment sectors remained fragmented, with limited scale, low penetration rates, and little integration between services. 

Retirement solutions were mostly confined to the formal sector, insurance was largely transactional, and there was a noticeable gap in professional advisory services and financial capacity building.

We recognized that the industry was ready for transformation, one that would drive consolidation, raise standards, and deliver truly integrated solutions. This belief shaped our founding vision: to build a different kind of financial institution for East and Southern Africa.

From the outset, Octagon Africa took a bold, multi-disciplinary approach. Rather than operating in traditional silos, we developed deep expertise across five complementary pillars: Pensions Administration & Trust Services, Insurance Brokerage, Unit Trusts, Actuarial Consultancy, and Professional Training. This integrated model enabled us to move beyond single-product offerings and deliver complete financial security ecosystems for both individuals and institutions.

A defining milestone came with the development of our proprietary Octagon Pension Administration System. This homegrown technology platform significantly enhanced efficiency, scalability, and client experience, while powering strategic acquisitions and allowing us to deliver seamless services across multiple countries.

Today, Octagon Africa stands as a trusted regional leader with a strong footprint across Kenya, Uganda, Zambia, and Tanzania. We are proud to be an African-led institution that combines local insight with global best practices, helping to professionalize the industry while making financial security accessible and reliable for hundreds of thousands of people.
